Reactivate the Virtual Routine Trigger skill

Modified on Mon, 29 Jan 2024 at 08:40 PM

Overview

In some rare cases, the Alexa skill loses the connection to the backend, where the triggers reside.

Step-by-step guide

Please perform all of the following steps, one at time, to fix this issue:

  1. Open the Alexa app on your smartphone and deactivate the Virtual Routine Trigger skill, wait for about 30 seconds, and reactivate the skill. Use your Amazon account when signing in.
  2. When the skill has been activated, let Alexa discover your devices. Your Virtual Routine Triggers (the ones you created earlier, but didn't get discovered) should now show up as a doorbell device.

Please activate one of your Virtual Routine Triggers and check if the are working now.

  1. If it still does not work, open www.virtualsmarthome.xyz/virtual_routine_trigger and log on using your Amazon account (the same as in step 1 above).
  2. Create a new trigger (e.g., “My New Test”).
  3. Open the Alexa app on you smartphone. Check if the new trigger has been created automatically.
  4. If it has not been created automatically, go to the “Devices” menu in the Alexa app and discover new devices manually.

After completing these steps, your triggers should work again.
