Overview

Setting up the URL Switch skill is fairly easy:

• First you log in to our website, where you will be able to configure your switches.
• In your Alexa smartphone app, you activate the URL Switch skill.

Step-by-step guide

Please follow this step by step guide to use this skill:

1. Go to www.virtualsmarthome.xyz/url_switch and log in using your Amazon account.
2. Create your first URL switch. You can provide a URL that will be called when you turn on the URL Switch. You can provide a second URL that will be called when you turn the URL Switch off.
3. Install the URL Switch skill and log in with your Amazon account. When Alexa starts discovering new devices, the switches you previously defined will be found. These triggers will show up as doorbells.
4. Now, the URL Switch you created earlier will be discovered as a switch (power controller device) in your Alexa environment. When you turn the switch on, the URL you provided will be opened.

Why are we using Amazon accounts?

If you are using an Alexa device, you have to set it up with an Amazon account. So every Alexa user has an Amazon account.

We wanted to make it as easy as possible for our users and not require an additional user account and a new password. Therefore, we make it possible that you can use your existing Amazon account with our Alexa skills.
