Question

Why did you develop URL Switch?

Answer

There are some smart home devices that cannnot be integrated directly into Alexa since the hardware vendor does not provide an Alexa skill. However, many of these devices can be turned on and off using regular URLs. We thought it would be a great idea to have a generic Alexa skill that would allow users to switch on and off any smart home devices that are available through (public) URLs. And here we go – the URL Switch was born!

Of course, the same approach cannot only be used for smart home devices, but also for any other interaction that can be triggered with a URL. You could, for instance, publish articles on a blog through Alexa routines, could send pre-defined e-mails through a web client in Alexa routines etc.
